I have had good success with third-party JP parts.

As to do it/farm it, it depends on allowable down-time, skilled mechanic you trust availability, and relational value. One of the pictures on the wall I prize is my daughters and I in our grubbies as we re-do the front-end of the engine on a 280Z.

Looking forward to taking a few days later this year and swapping the engine and tranny on our trusty 94 "Burb with a relative who has a mobile repair business. It will be fun; mainly because he will see to it that we succeed, and I look forward to working with him.

So, if your kid is up to helping, I'd set aside some time to do it.
