Periodically when we try to open an Excel spreadsheet in the imported items area of AC, it will not open within the AC pane, but instead opens Excel and appears there. Over the years I have spent more hours than I should trying to make this work; for a certain group of our patients, these sheets are invaluable so I keep making the effort. (I also do it out of stubbornness). Generally the spreadsheet opens in the pane on the right, as it should, but sometimes it will not.
I have posted about this before. Using what I have learned in the past won?t fix the issue at this time on this machine.
From what I understand, the imported items viewing pane is treated like a browser, so the operating system (Win7 in this case) looks to see what the default browser is, and then for the default program to open spreadsheets (.xls, etc files) within the browser. I think I have set these appropriately but it seems that once the default is set incorrectly, AC doesn?t check again and there is no changing it back. So everything was fine, then some change resulted in a different default program being used and now I can?t get back to Excel.
Any ideas? (Win7 with Chrome as the default browser; just as it is on several other machines which work just fine).
