8AM total testosterone --if greater than 350 ng/dl excludes hypogonadism, if less than 200 ng/dl, a second confirmatory measurement should be obtained, if 200-350 ng/dl then check a serum free testosterone level.

then check for secondary or primary hypoganadism if confirmed.
