You buy a Dell server (to keep it simple). You install the OS. OK, you may need a little help setting it up.

You put your computers where you would your peer to peer. You pull up a browser and type http://connect. It connects to the server. The only difference is it connects as a domain and not a workgroup. That's it.

You never have to touch the server again. It's like the cars thread. You can buy a Gran Torino Sport and drive it and do nothing or you can add headers and Thrush mufflers with air shocks, etc.

Some people would hire a professional to run the dual exhaust. Some have the capacity to do it themselves.

Is it worth to have dual exhaust and headers on the car? It was for me in 1978. But, to others no. Do you need a server? No. But, for some, it's actually fun to use it. And, if you do like working with it, it makes your work easier.

Here's the shocker. I would have quit medicine years ago had it not been for Small Business Server and HP and Dell.
