I think Ken was just making up the scenario to see how it should be best be handled. I was able to merge the two folders and it worked fine.
Like Donna says, it likely wouldn't be an issue, because onsite backups are still the most efficient if not best backups.
I don't see where the system is set up right now is a big deal as far as restoring.
Also, not that I can think of a better way, but I have always felt the way imported items are done is less than ideal.
