Most backup programs do indeed lock the file while it is being copied. Fortunately, the files copy quickly, and most of the time you won't see it.
I also significantly reduced frequency of "lost connections" by excluding Amazing Charts folder from the antivirus/firewall program, so database/imported files are accessed w/o being scanned.
