Depending on what your existing network setup is, I'd steer clear of Win7 starter. Here is the link from MS on what you can (and *can't*) do with the networking constraints.

If you have a machine laying around with a valid XP lic, you might be better re-cycling that OS lic. Keep in mind that newer hardware might present driver issues in some cases.
