The other thing you could do is to forward one chart and switch to the other chart, not the fastest thing in the world, but sometimes comes in handy.
I, for one, would probably like to have 2 charts open at a time. I realize this runs the risk of charting on the wrong patient. I am so used to doing it this way that it no longer bothers me MUCH.
It has been on the wish list for a long time.
