Tangent, but as far as the iPhone OS, I use LogMeIn Ignition on my iPad, and it works well; although it takes some adjusting to how the touch interface works. Once you get used to it, multi-touch remote control is a hoot.
If AT&T is dodgy in your part of the world, a WIFI iPad is a valid alternative.
As some would say, if you are a bit of a propeller type, you can use an iPad tethered to your smart phone; it particular the new Android (Froyo) has been used to tether the iPad.
I'll have my iPad with me @ ACUC 2010 if anyone wants to to take it for a spin.
