How are your coding and billing skills? If you are comfortable at establishing the appropriate levels for e&m and using appropriate icds for procedures, understand modifiers, etc, you could do it.
How well do you type? If you don't type well, it might be appropirate.
Are you in private practice?, If you are, it is theoretically possible.
I am entering the icds and cpts in real time as I see patients. At the end of the day I applying the copays and submit claims. I am very pleased with the support and training that the company has provided.
Right now I have two laptops set up in my office so that I can finish up my note, I enter the codes into OA on the other computer. You could go back and forth, but it involves a three way toggle which was a little clumsy for me.
I am very content and glad that I am no longer paying a percentage and did not have to add a salary.
