Open Amazing Utilities, select Advanced from the upper left, choose "test speed to/from database". Do this on your slow workstation and on your server. I get a little less than 3.0s from this workstation which seems too high. This might give your tech a start.

When we were having this problem with Amazing Charts on 3.7 it was because we had saturated our SOHO Netgear switch. It might be a network issue for you too.
