Has anybody made any types of patient handouts, followup care instructions that they have saved on AC (like an addendum with wound care, lesion removal, casting, etc.). Would be able to print them and give to pt. so a copy was stored in chart. Any other methods people have thought of ?

Steven,

Why not keep them on your addendums but then copy and paste them into the Print Instructions (Plan) section of the note so it will be included directly in the note?

Hey guys pehaps some of you 3.7 folks can speak to this. we didn't get to play with it, but Larry who was demoing DNS at IMP Camp, showed us that this print plan button was now there. What about this new button at the bottom of the note page that allows you to print out a copy of "The Plan"? Would this work well enough for most of you? And could those of you who are using it already let us know what you think? Thanks.

I can't remember what thread it was, but I basically started one saying it was the greatest new innovation in AC since the "C." It's awesome. It basically allows you to print your plan and all of your instructions to the patient in the plan box, then click that button and a nicely formatted educational sheet or plan outline is produced. Definitely worth going to 3.7 for.

Everybody loved this feature at the conference.

I do print instructions for patients. In the past I actually printed them as an "Order", but I may now switch to the Print Plan button.

I also get lots of educational handouts from the AAFP and I have started saving them as PDFs in a folder on my desktop instead of going to the website every time.

I have a long list of templates under Orders. Everything from instructions on how to use Neosynephrine or Debrox, to Kiegle exercises and detailed instructions on returning next visit with all the meds. It started with a sheet detailing my needs for them to return with blood sugar results AC & HS from just one day. I sometimes send this to the printer at the nurses station and have them repeat the instructions to the patient as they are scheduling the next appointment.

Since the conference, I've been using the "print Plan" and it works great for all patients, but especially work comp. I like it.

I have internet connections on my PC's, and I often refer to www.mayoclinic.com
They have great patient education topics. Search by diagnosis and select the articles that state they are a comprehensive overview. I often print these out to give to patients.
