Wayne,
You don't know how right you are. Unfortunately for you and your sis actually you do know how right you are. I was doing our own personal checkbook and stuff and I just got so mad and then post freak out depressed. After using personal funds to upgarde our tech that really needed to be done, and Nancy having extensive root canel that of course that guy wouldn't PAR with any carrier if his life depended on it and I certainly don't blame him, we are basically broke without a pad to fall back on. We don't have a red cent to our name saved for us or our kids, what a great legacy to leave behind for our kids. Busy parents who at least one of them is always working late, no cash, no vactions to speak of (thank you grandma) and not a penny saved so we are not a burdon to them in our old age, no less some assistance for college or grad school. What a great F'ing legacy....

The heck with going to Branson this year, we can just forget about that. No CME for our doctor other than free local conferences and mail ins from the journals. Now that is quality control from our insurance carriers now isn't? Starve out the docs to the point of not even being able to afford quality continuing ed, Pay for performance at it's F'ing finest, right?

We keep pouring our family legacy down this bottomless pit called a private practice. My mother a retired school teacher from NYC is basically, while on Medicare herself no less, is financing healthcare for the citizens of the upstate, CNY region by assisting us in staying afoat because we can not pull enough out of a real medical practice to pay all our bills including business and medical school debt we are servicing and carrying. Unreal, simply amazing.

We have the rustiest first generation grand cherokee (the newest ones are gen 3) in the entire area, there are a few that are close, but none as bad as mine. It will surely be dead in another year or two because of the rust even though I have taken great care of her and she runs like a champ. Our backyard fence is so dead that we can't let our dog out by himself anymore unless he is tied up, and we should have replaced the roof, shingles and some sheets of ply too over the garge/family room a number of years ago. Every winter I pray that it can hold up just one more year and not fall in a destroy my Dart or worse my family and the far side living space.

I still need to catch up on some serious bookkeeping for the family as well as the practice this weekend after falling behind on both with all these tech, network issues. We are in really bad shape. And the suckiest part of this business is unless it is not related to an insurance claim, even if you crank it up multiple notches, you can't even begin to realize the difference in cash flow for at least weeks if not months... Deductables copays... Large accounts recievables. No wonder one of the most successful businesses in our town is the collection agency that has won over most the practices as their accounts. Only we are supposed to take it up the wazzu like this without any lubricant. Health savings accounts my @$$..... High deductables too.

Proudly Serving Our Corporate Masters....

Just thought this needed to be added to this thread even though I just put it in the other one that is running now....

Hey do you think that Sec. Levvitt is actually intentionly trying to force all practices in to bankrupcy? Think about all at the same exact time, we have the 10% medicare cut coming at us while this roll out deadline of the NPI numbers for claim processing is becoming a reality too. I mean you just can't make this kind of CCHIT up. It really has to be some grand master plan, it's just way too perfect and boom, boom right in a row. And with King George's give away to the big banks regular folks can't ever get real bankrupcy protection from their creditors when the CCHIT hits the fan.... We are truly screwed aren't we???

"We certainly are Ollie...."

Speaking of Leavitt, I posted this today at the blog.. Mike Leavitt rushed a "typo ridden final rule" to the Office of the Federal Register to get the rule in place just before the law passed by Congress to prohibit, was signed in to law. Here's part of the article and my commentary, and makes you wonder how the Medicare physician's compensation is going to be handled, I hope not like this!
Sneaky Attempt to Impose Medicaid Regulation

UPDATE: A couple other sites have also picked up on the attempt made by Leavitt...judge found ample reason to overturn the rushed through rule...violation of Congressional intent...when I see something like this at the high level of the administration I have to ask "why"....is this being treated like a "cat and mouse" game...and it appears somewhat juvenile in nature....especially when patient care is at stake...has Mr. Leavitt forgotten about morality and improving health care in the process of getting to the finish line first and furthermore it certainly doesn't show much respect for members of Congress...BD

A federal district judge has slapped down a sneaky attempt by the Bush administration to impose an onerous Medicaid regulation despite the clear intent of Congress that it be deferred. Once again, the administration has been caught in a flagrant attempt to ignore the will of Congress and unilaterally chart its own path.

I believe Mr. McClellan confirmed this sneaky "don't get in my way" attitude in his newly published book "What Happened".
