Hello,
I know this topic has come up few times and I have been thinking about it, but never ever considered options. We have been AC user since 2005-6, and still remember the days when Dr Jon and @bert would keep talking. I spoke to Jon few times gave him ideas on how to convert from Access Db to sql server etc.
Anyway, I have played less and less role, and keep the server infra and AC running at my wife's renal practice. The docs put up with me and the staff tolerates me with my slow speed of getting to the tech stuff. I have moved from running on windows servers to running them in VM's and backing up the VM's on a daily basis. Hardware is cheap and storage is cheaper, but AC is getting slower and slower and every year they are getting expensive.
I want to move to a Cloud based offering, either I can host it in my own cloud account or offer to me as service.
I have seen some discussion around Praxis and one physician just going ga ga over it. Has anyone tried OpenEMR? I was thinking I shall install it and play around.
Anyone with suggestion. Key is "migration" and how much data can I still keep

@Nephron,
Doing a direct data migration from one EMR to another is impossible most of the time and tedious/expensive the rest of the time. I know, I've done my fair share.
Moving to an online EMR is where things often get to the impossible part for direct data migrations as most online EMRs don't support such endeavors. However, there is a happy medium.
You can export your AC data (allergy list, problem list, SOAP, etc.) and imported items to one PDF per patient and import that PDF into the new EMR as an imported item (or whatever the new EMR calls it). You should also check to see if the new EMR will at least support a demographics upload and if there is a template (Excel, CSV) available.
I can export your AC data to PDF for you. You can PM me for details.

Our local hospital and a local nursing home both switched EMR's in the last few years. Hospital has local servers, I think - at least originally. Nursing home hosted in the heavenly cloud.
Both transitions were rough, little useful medical data got transferred. And they had plenty of professional IT help, and apparently unlimited budgets.

No, but we do! That's always been the attraction of AC, but of course it wouldn't work for a hospital.

Well well well!!! Ga GA TROLL??
Too cool we are!! Roper room lives on.....
I'm simply trying to share with my colleagues a finding I made after months of some pretty intense research. I did the same research before buying into AC and then Harris came along. How's that working out for y'all????
Sorry if I've offended anyone.
I do not benefit one iota if anyone on this thread takes my advice and does a similar deep dive into Praxis, only that I may have helped improve the quality of care provided to patients, a colleagues practice of medicine and more importantly, their quality of life.
If you don't want to look into THE MOST innovative, physician and patient centered EHR ever produced, well THAT'S YOUR LOSS!!!!
Still available to offer my two cents over a phone call, and I won't put you down if you decide it's not for you, or for ANY REASON!!!

You must be referring to the fact that I called you out on your completely unnecessary and disrespectful remarks about me, especially taking into consideration that I have NEVER been disrespectful on this board to you or anyone else. In fact, I have only, albeit strongly, encouraged people to do a deep dive into Praxis to give themselves a chance to see why I think it's THE BEST EMR, currently available. Must be why you felt compelled to tell me to "Chill a little". But weirdly...... you then commented that you think that I somehow put you down because I commented that I would not be similarly disrespectful of anyone on this or any other thread for any reason????
FOR REAL????
To recap......
You were unnecessarily disrespectful......
You double down on the disrespect......
Then you tell me to Chill.......
And finally complain that I put you down????
FOR REAL????
MAYBE WE CAN GET BACK ONTO THE SUBJECT OF THIS THREAD AND DISCUSS WHY EACH OF US FEELS THERE IS A BETTER EMR AND WHY THAT PARTICULAR EMR IS THE MOST BENEFICIAL TO PROVIDER AND PATIENT??????
MAYBE???

I'm sorry. Chill a little? Where did I say that? But, I think maybe I should have. I don't see where I disrespected you. But, OK, I apologize. So, let's all be friends. Don't forget. I used Praxis.

Dear Snow, I think you have done a great service for the board. I even looked at Praxis again. You provided a ton of information and offered to speak with anyone and gave your phone number. One member even changed to Praxis. I also think Praxis is a good concept and even names its AI a concept processor. OK, so we will go with I was disrespectful. Enough. OK. I was actually trolling you, because it was fun. Trolling shouldn't be allowed on the board, but since it is my forum, I can do what I want. I can't give you the last word, so I will do it for you. "Bert, you are disrespectful and unprofessional." You are welcome to start a new thread and talk about Praxis. I promise not to troll you. I will even promote your EMR. You can start a thread if you want to start the flame war, but I will just ignore it. I think everyone gets your point and I am guilty as charged. Now let's stop this thread and everyone can start a new one. Oh, and the only reason I do give you a hard time is not your pushing Praxis, but your negative comments about AC. Not small comments about errors that could be fixed, but "look what that got you..." type posts. This isn't a board to be disrespectful or troll, but it isn't a board to blatantly and generally bash Harris and AC. Friends. PS I say it is my forum. It is everyone's forum, I just have the domain registered.
