How to turn off the ads on the login screen for v11.1.2? Have to contact AC support or can Chris share how to do this on our own?

I am not sure that is an option... would LOVE to turn it off if we can!

Once I log in then there are NO ADS anywhere on the EMR. I found ads useful to add more info to my knowledge. I am not annoyed by it. If for any reason I do not like it, I just log in and be done with the ad banner. It would have been VERY annoying if there was a minimum FIXED time one has to wait before logging in on Log In screen.

It's software we are paying for and now get to see ads. AC is going to get money from the ads but not pass any savings on to us. I would be fine with an ad if it offset may annual maintenance fees. Otherwise, I want to turn them off. Guess I may have to set up a Pi-Hole.

Hi ffac,

If you're worried enough to use Pi-Hole, keep in mind that Pi-Hole can make Windows updates fail:

FIX: Error 0xc1900223 in Feature Update to Windows 10, version 2004 (Solved) . . .

Step 5. If you're using Pi-hole as your DNS provider, then temporally disable or uninstall it, by running the appropriate command in command prompt, or change the DNS Servers in Windows, by following the instructions in method 6 below.

pihole disable
pihole uninstall

Cheers,

I'm not seeing ads anywhere when I log onto AC 11.1.2, have they been removed?

Support has to turn them of via a dbase script as we didn't add a preference yet for users to do it. To date we've updated thousands of practices and we've received 3 phone calls to turn them off. If we were to receive a large number of requests we will add a user preference but we felt that most users would have a perception similar to Qaiser's recognizing it's not intrusive to workflow so what's the harm, and maybe you gain a little knowledge in the process.

Having an ad that is not AC related would be the problem. If the "ads" are more like tips in using AC, then that is much different. This just feels like a gateway to eventually have 3rd party ads in the product since the whole user base that wants to continue to ePrescribe has to upgrade (or pay $0.01 per Rxn per the recent AC communication). Thus, generating easy profit for the company and the users get no discount on maintenance fees. 3rd party ads could be a source of security risk. That should be a big concern for any medical practice. I am completely against ads in a product I pay money to own/use.

If one knows how to setup and use a Pi-hole, they would understand all the consequences that come with it.

The "ads" right now are being displayed on the log on screen. There are no "ads" after you log into AC.

That large white bottom area is where they would be displayed. Not everyone is being sent ads, for some reason.

I use Microsoft Edge as my default browser and when I try and run Browser Integrity option in AC it comes up as a 'fail'. Guess they don't like edge and wonder if that is why no ads appearing in my logon screen. Now that I think about it I did use Chrome as my default a while back and think I did see ads then.

Different browsers sounds like it. On my test server, with no internet connection, the white box would display a webpage "fail" connection.

Hi Koby,

If the ads come through the default browser, I wonder if something like AdBlockPlus would stop them?

Cheers,

I'll know that for sure on Friday when I upgrade my production system.
