I just bought a new laptop, and I can't for the life of me find the setup program for Updox. We have been using it for years, but it has been a long time since I put it on a new computer. The version we use is a Java program, all I can find is a web-based program that runs though a browser. I don't like that one at all. Can anyone steer me to the old one? Or is that a museum piece?

My nurse prefers the local server based Updox rather than the browser version, but since we transitioned to the Updox texting feature, we have to use the browser version to do this. One feature I like with the browser version is that just running the cursor over the report will enlarge without having to click on it. But I have gotten use to the browser version and find it just fine to use.

I also prefer the local version, but Updox seems to have deprecated it I can't find it. Anyone know where it is?

Have you tried calling Updox, they may be able to help you out, I am not sure if they even offer that any more, but keep us updated.

Now my problem is I can't get the Updox printer to work, and the editor doesn't open up when I open a fax (like it shows in their tutorial video, and as it does in the old Updox program. Updox is currently useless -- and of course they don't have any support over the weekend.
I'm sadder and sadder about this electronic "revolution" All the time I waste trying to make these things work doesn't make up for the time "saved" when they do.

Are you using Updox Central? Running as a service? Sometimes we have to restart the service.

Yes and yes. I downloaded and installed the newest printer and fax drivers I could find on the Updox site. Now I can get the print to Updox working, but not print to fax. And I don't have my connection to the fax address list. The edit window never opens in the workspace -- I can open the faxes, but I can't edit them. The "edit" button shown in the tutorial videos doesn't appear on my workspace
Maybe I need to restart the server to get this going. I'll try it this evening.

The answer to all this is that updox is trying to get everyone on the browser version, but they do maintain the local Java based app-- however the location of the install file seems to be secret, and you can only get it from Updox support, when you can get them. Which is NOT on weekends.
The Java version is preferable in some circumstances -- for one thing, you can't sign forms using a touch screen or stylus in the Web-based version, which is a pain for dealing with Medicare and some prescriptions that have to be "hand signed".
The other thing is, the first time you install the Print to Fax and Print to Updox drivers (from the Updox support site) you also have to supply the Updox Central integration link (on your local server)-- and you apparently have to reboot the server the first time you install the web based Updox programs.
I have everything working now -- but Updox documentation is far from clear, and I wasted many hours trying to figure it out.

For the record -- this is the address of the old-style desktop/Java Updox program: http://myupdox.com/launcher/setup.exe

Yes, I like the Web version now -- it seems to be faster and somewhat clearer than the Java version But the touch screen doesn't work, so you can't sign prescriptions and Medicare forms.
Someone at Updox told me they would try to add touch-sensitivity to the Web editor.
