I need help and I hope someone can help me.

On our main computer (mine), I can no longer open imported files if they are in the .tif extension. Everything is fine on every other computer. Of course, I have Paint which opens .tif files. This was not a problem previously. All computers are updated at the same time, so I doubt that it is a windows update that did this...but hey, I'm only a pseudo-tech crazy so anything is possible.

Suggestions?

Thanks...

Barbara:

I remember you had this problem before:

What happened last time; did you ever have any success?

I had a similar problem when for some reason Quicktime made itself the default viewer for TIF files. They all opened in Quicktime, which only showed the first page and was not annotatable. To fix, you open Quicktime, drill down through the preferences to a checkbox that designates Quicktime as the default TIF viewer. Uncheck it.
Open MS Document Imager, and drill down to a similar check box and check it, making Document Imager the default.

Rainy,

Victor is exactly right. Unfortunately, big programs such as Nero, Roxio and other suites will take over your default viewers much the same way the Windows Media Player with take iTunes and vice versa. Fox and I.E. do the same.

So, you can change the default the way Victor said. Other ways are right clicking on the file and choosing Open With and choose Windows Viewer, etc. If all else fails, there are literally tens to hundreds of free .tiff viewers on the Internet you can Google.
