When records are requested the front desk will go into the chart, print encounters and then use the fax machine to send the records by fax. We have Updox and I wondering if there is a better way to do this. There is a lot of paper waste with this method.

Use the Updox Central printer. If you don't have it installed, email Updox. Tech Support will log into your computer & install it.
Print the documents to the Updox Workspace. Check off the pages to send, hit Send, enter the fax number. And they're on their way.

Thank you John. Contacted Updox and we can now send faxes from workstations. User Board works!

Do you have to pay additional money for that Updox feature? Thanks, Frank

No, when you are installing Updox for the first time it asks to install a virtual printer. We never did that, but it is necessary to send files via fax. Documents that need to be sent are printed to the virtual updox printer to be sent.

Yep, the easiest way to save a shortcut of the Imported Items folder to the desktop. Find the patient ID and find that folder in imported items. You'll need some sort of PDF Editor or PDF Combining software to combine the PDFs. Adobe Acrobat, Foxit, PDF XChange (all paid), PDF Sam (Free).
Usually you can just highlight them all and right click to combine. AC already lets you print all encounters. You could go the extra step of combining the notes with the imported items but I usually keep them separate. One PDF with all the encounters. One PDF with all the attachments.

You're welcome. I would give PDF XChange a try. Although the UI design is a bit dated. Staff members seem to pick it up a lot quicker than Adobe or Foxit.

I use PDF redirect. It will combine files and encrypt them. While it is free it's 19.95 for professional use. It's very intuitive to use (other than to save but that comes quickly)

The patient's expectation is that you have all the answers, sometimes they just don't like the answer you have for them

In regards to exporting the imported files, is there any way to have the items listed in the way that they were labeled, such as "chest x-ray," when they are exported, or are we stuck with long strings of numbers and letters that have no meaning, other than to the computer?
