Thanks to IT support for the 10.1.3 Upgrade this weekend, I do really like the pharmacy information that pops up regarding where to send and cost to patient, plan and whether a prior auth is needed or not. This is helpful.

I like it as well. Although, every time I e-Rx it says No PA needed. And I know its not accurate. Are you clicking on something additional to get the copay "cost"? Thanks. I might be missing something?? Tim

It is a nice feature but what we really need is help with the PA requests. Entering patient demographics, insurance info, all the meds they have tried and the lab results etc is a pain in the neck and such a waste of time.

tnorcross,
So if you click on the medication in the script writer, then click on prepare script tab, then click on prescribe tab, then in upper right corner click on view benefits with the $ sign in front, and a box pops up with estimated cash pay and estimated plan pay, pharmacy and PA needed or not. I haven't used it enough to determine how accurate all of this is but it says the info is based on historical data.

Thanks Jimmie. Interesting. Mine still says "No PA required" for every single Rx done. It never mentions anything about a copay. Although I see the area where it would potentially show it. Maybe the bugs will work out in time. Thanks for the response anyways.

Maybe the bugs will work out in time. Thanks for the response anyways. A couple things to look at if you are not seeing co-pay information. First, make sure the patient has a favorite pharmacy listed in the demographics, the second is to make sure insurance info (including group ID) is entered in Amazing Charts. If all that information is entered in AC, but you are still not getting a result, please let me know. You can email me directly at mdabeck@harriscomputer.com

The algorithm can get a little complicated. Basically, you need the patients insurance information on file and a pharmacy. We also pull in some eligibility information to help CMM make the connection to the payer. If CMM gets a connection they will return the PA and costs. If they cannot connect with the payer given the information we provided they utilize a complex predictor service and estimate the PA and costs based on the patients prescription history and the pharmacy. You'll "estimated" in the response when this happens.

Absolute horsepucky
We do not get paid for "PA"s -- but "CoverMyMeds" (i.e. McKesson) is cleaning up -- at our expense.
Anyone who does these PA's for common drugs is providing slave labor. I hope you enjoy it -- you'll get pie in the sky when you die. (That's a lie)
