Upgraded to 10.1.1 over the weekend. With one of our three front office staff, we are seeing a strange behavior with messaging. When a message is started, and the "pull chart" button is pressed opening the associated patient's chart, any message that has been started gets erased. Toggling between the message and patient chart is not possible, because every time you toggle, the message is deleted.

Other users are not affected. I entered a new user, and the strange behavior occurs on the new user as well.

I have a support email out, but I wondered if there is a setting I'm missing someplace?

Now that you have upgraded. Would you say its worth the effort?

Dru - too soon to tell - have had some Rx bugaboos today due to the NewCrop outage, and some general slowness which is probably related to this. For the most part, no major difference in functionality that I can tell.

PS - I was contacted by support and was told that the message disappearing when toggling between screens is the correct behavior. They are not sure why most of my office has not had this until the upgrade.

As a workaround, we have found the "Refill" button will call up the current med list for the front office staff, when patients call for refills to confirm their doses.

This is the correct behavior. Previously you may have been accustomed to highlighting the patient in the search box on the left side. The old method was confusing caused problems attaching the incorrect chart to the message so we detached the right side from the left for clarity. The two side of the screen are mutually exclusive. When you are entering a message and you want to pull the chart you need to use the Patient button above the message box on the right side. That will preserve your message text and allow you to see the chart and also type in the message at the same time.

Chris - thanks for the reply.

Actually, what you are describing as the "correct" behavior - permitting a message to be composed while a chart is being viewed - is the problem we are having, and we are opening the chart from the right side. When two of our front office users enter a message, they use the patient button as you described (followed by the "Pull Chart" button) not the patient list on the left side. If they attempt to toggle screens between the message and the chart, the message box resets/erases.
For all of the other users in our office, the message is preserved when toggling. The issue with the disappearing messages only started after we upgraded to 10.1.1, and only for two users (and a third new user I created for testing purposes.)
I displayed this for the support team, and they told me the message erasure was the correct behavior. Be happy to show them, or you, again.

I have had the same issue, making it very difficult to review information in the chart while working on the message. Very annoying and waste of time and effort.
Also, the messages do not refresh and at times you can see the text of the message that you just deleted and at times even though the message for another patient is highlighted, when you pull a chart, the chart of the patient whose message was just deleted pulls up.
I also feel that rather than simplifying the flow, they have made it worse with the new changes of the log in screen and the way patient charts are pulled. I hate the long list of menu options that have no specific order.

Naeem -
Glad I'm not the only one out there. Hopefully they can fix the message refresh issue with the next version update.

I've also seen messages not deleted when the chart is pulled/message selected (I have mine set to call up the "Delete Message from Mailbox?") This behavior is reproducible and happens if I move the mouse after double-clicking the message. Wonder if anybody else has had this issue. You wind up with multiple messages/notes for an office visit that has already been completed and signed off.
