I have been so busy, I haven't been able to get this up on the ACUB. Part of what makes me busy is this bug. I have to figure someone else is having this issue too. Or maybe I am doing something incorrectly.
I open the script writer and select a medication. We will just say Cefzil 250 mg/5mL.
I type in the sig:
1 tsp po bid for 10 days
I then move down to the amount, and the sig disappears. Unfortunately, there is nothing close to it in the dropdown box, which I wish we could edit and populate. I write a lot of medications for 1 tsp po bid for 10 days.
Anyhow, I retype the sig (sometimes a fair difficult one), and I know it is possibly going to disappear. Sure enough, I move the mouse, and it disappears. It tends to reoccur on the same script if it happens once.
I type it in again, but this time I just let things settle, take a deep breath, grab the mouse very lightly and move it in an upward motion and loop around so the sig field cannot see the mouse pointer. That is part of the issue. The sig and the mouse pointer evidently do not get along.
I haven't tried tabbing much, because I am not used to it. I don't really think about it until it happens. Like the subject line says, this happens up to ten times a day, sometimes more.

Bert, I have not had this problem, but I must say the mechanics of my prescribing are different. That said, I cannot reproduce the issue you describe by following your steps. (By the way, when you say "I move down to the amount", I assume you mean to the "Disp#:" box).
Can I suggest some quicker ways to prescribe? They may be an annoying change at first, but if this bug is bothering you that much, it might be easier to alter what you do, just a little.
Why not keep the box checked for "Quick Script Writer"? Then it is a simple matter to hit the radio buttons to select your sig.
Are you using the "Expand favorites"? I realize that there is more variability in Sigs in peds than with adults, but still... if you often write Cefzil with that sig, why not have it show up as a choice?
Finally, as you point out, hitting the tab key will take you from "Sig" to "Disp#" without having to touch the mouse.

Thanks Jon!
I will give some of those a try. I know in the beginning I tried the Quick Script Writer a bit, and I could never get the hang of it. This bug has been going on for a while with Win 7 and then Win 10. I will keep an eye on it and try to tab down and see what happens.
