Hi... we installed AC on a Win 7 Ultimate laptop this morning. Pointed the XML file to the server computer AC folder. All functions appear to work correctly.

However, when starting up AC, on the main splash screen, the startup status goes on normally, but stops at "Checking Windows Service...". Then a message box "Could not retrieve the statuses of the Amazing Charts windows services on the Main computer". Clicking OK proceeds to AC. Then, all appears OK.

I think I remember seeing this before, however, I cannot remember what to do to fix this.

Is this something we can easily fix, or do we need to contact AC support.

Thanks for any ideas to help.

If this is the only client with problems, I would try a repair, then check your firewall settings on the client.

Bottom line, contact AC and watch what they do for future reference.

Indy... Thank you very much for your reply. Firewall settings sounds promising. I don't know what's on that laptop, but will definitely look at that.

I was ready to have the doctor call AC support if no "easy fix" was suggested (I'm a friend helping the doctor).

One question though. When you say to try a repair, do you mean using Control Panel / Programs and Features, and using the repair there. Or some other repair process.

Thanks again...

Hi again... I asked the doctor to stop Windows Firewall (no other firewalls on the laptop), and the Amazing Charts windows services message still appears. I told the doctor he needs to call AC support to go into the laptop to see what's happening. Hopefully he will also see what they do to fix this.

Indy... thanks again for your time.

Hi again... doctor didn't have a chance to call AC Support and schedule a session, so I went to look at the issue again. Laptop has 2 user accounts... one Standard, and one Administrator. We found that if logged in as the Standard user, that message box shows up when "Checking Windows services..." When logged in as the Administrator, that message box doesn't show up.

So I logged in as Administrator and uninstalled AC. Then logged in as Standard user and installed AC, by running the install program "as Administrator". (also set the user control to none) Same results as described above.

This only happens on this laptop running Win 7 Ultimate. Doesn't happen on a desktop and laptop which are both running Win 7 Pro.

Does this provide any more hints as to what's going on?

Thanks again...

OK... went in to look at the issue some more. Today, for whatever reason, the "Could not retrieve the statuses of the Amazing Charts windows services on the Main computer" message box shows up whether logged in as Standard user OR Administrator. Don't think anything changed between yesterday and today.

Turned off User Account Control, Windows Firewall, even Malwarebytes monitoring. No change... BOTH Standard user AND Administrator shows that message.

Guess the doctor's only hope is AC Support. I ran out of ideas.

Thanks for reading...

You have not posted anything further about this problem. One of our workstations started doing the same thing. Was this resolved and do you know how it was resolved?
