I am posting a slightly edited version of an email that I get every so often about my certificate expiring and I must renew immediately. This particular bill/invoice/demand/email should be ignored. Verizon stopped working with EPCS and NewCrop in February of 2018. I had enrolled with Exostar in December of 2017, meaning I will be be due to renew my Exostar certificate so I can continue to use Authy with NewCrop and EPCS. However, since my initial provider for NewCrop EPCS service with Verizon started in August of 2017, Verizon continued to email me quarterly until my certificate date expired.

Given, Elon Musk can colonize Mars after the apocalypse, one would think Verizon could somehow stop billing users for a service they are not providing. When you see the real emails, they are very convincing.

Not sure if this has fooled anyone into going through the steps they provide or made you believe you had to pay anything to Verizon. Of course, even though it is Verizon which is sending these spams, they literally scream at you not to contact them.

The bottom line is that any bill or email stating your contract is nearly up or will expire in one day, that has the word Verizon ANYWHERE on it or says "powered by Verizon" or "don't even think of contacting Verizon," can safely be ignored. I say assuming you are either not using EPCS at all or are using Exostar.

Dear Doctor

Your Certificate will expire on 15/Aug/2018. Please consider this your 1 day notification.
IF YOU DO NOT RENEW YOUR CERTIFICATE BEFORE THE EXPIRATION DATE, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO TRANSMIT CONTROLLED RXS.

To renew your certificate:

Log into the Profile Manager: Please select to log in and renew your credential.
Select My Certificate from the menu on the top left hand side.
Choose View/Request Certificate.
Reissue the Certificate. (This will renew the certificate for the next calendar year.)
Once the Certificate is approved, you will receive a confirmation email. Approval happens within 24 hours of reissuance.

Note: All questions or issues must be referred to your EMR. Do not, under any circumstances, contact Verizon directly.

Bert -- that's real power.
Verizon can make you mutter and fume, and worse, grovel.

And, apparently, continue to send out FAKE invoices. I am fortunate. I am fortunate to be on the NCAB or I would have been trying to do what they say every time they send it. And, it's unbelievable when they send three in a row. 3 days left, 2 days left, 1 day left...gotcha. No more EPCS through Verizon.

But, like Y2K, nothing happens. Because I haven't been using or paying Verizon for over eight months. It is Exostar.

Of course, there are times when these things are real. Like the time I switched form Dish through my phone company to just Dish. Two separate companies. Had some time left over from the first one and needed to pay for the new one. You know needing physics, astronomy and calculus all at once. Called TDS, the first one, "oh just pay us, we will pay them." Called Dish, and they said, "just pay us and we will pay them." I wonder why I was not surprised when I received overdue notices from each.

But, life is good now. Got Exostar with little Authy and the capability to record 16 different stations at the same time. To have 16 TVs, don't you need more than 16 rooms. That is called a mansion, not a house. But, what was I thinking? All doctors are rich.

Ah, the problems of the First World.
I'm struggling with trying to get the Portland Oregonian right now -- I miss the days when a boy (once me) brought the paper to your door. And might even tuck it behind the screen door on rainy days smile

That's weird. Couldn't they just use GPS, then click the button on their smartphone letting you know it had arrived.

And, I think we have moved ever closer to 2nd world by now.

It must have taken a lot more imagination to come up with a new headline each day. I mean you can only write so many stories about Woodrow Wilson.

Well, I was going to say HaHa -- but then I started thinking about Woodrow Wilson --
he ran on a platform of keeping us out of WWI, but then plowed in whole hog with consequences we live with today --

It was just an example. I guess the only Presidents to get us into "good" wars was Lincoln and FDR. Of course, FDR had no other choice. Lincoln had a choice, but it was a tough one. I suppose some of the older presents in those wars of 18...whatever. Bush, kinda had that moment, but even then some very bad choices were made.

I don't guess this is the place to debate the goodness of one war or another.
FWIW I believe that ALL wars are GOOD WARS -- for a certain class of people, and BAD for everyone else.
