Why would the scheduled auto database backup delay like this? Normally, it would not matter much but I also wrote a script to wait 2 hours after the scheduled backup and copy to off-site storage. The copying progress takes very long and I would like to have it done before office opens (7am.) So, if the scheduled backup is delayed everyday by about 5-30sec, or about 1 minute delayed every 10-13 days, then at some point it will be delayed 30min, 60min, etc. And, I am not the full time support for this clinic so "resetting" the backup time would not be possible for a very long time. Besides, the timer should not be this off  I would appreciate any insight or correction of the program. Thank you.

Hi, Maybe over those 50+ days the backup's preliminary checks of the slowly growing AC database (and possibly the separate hideous imported items folder) are taking longer and longer? That is, maybe the AC backup program is still starting exactly on time, but it might be taking longer and longer to reach the point where it gets around to creating the actual backup file and uses this delayed creation-time the file-name. Windows defaults to just hh:mm displays, but you can see the modified/created/accessed times in hh:mm:ss with the free nirsoft bulkfilechanger.exe. You can get the current nirsoft utilities zip file, whose password is nirsoft9876$ (to avoid pesky false positives from anti-virus programs) from www.majorgeeks: https://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/nirlauncher.htmlOr you can wrestle with wmic to get hh:mm:ss data: https://superuser.com/questions/937380/get-creation-time-of-file-in-millisecondsIn any case, the time when the backup finishes after your specified 12:00 start time may be what really matters. Thanks for the reply, Carl. I can understand what you are saying. As the database grows, it requires longer time to get the backup ready for encryption. And perhaps the starting time could be delayed due to growing size. But, I was looking at the from Task Scheduler--starting time of any automation should be the same day after day. So I am attaching the screenshot of Amazing Charts' backup screen. As you can see, even though it was set to 12:01am from the beginning it has now changed to 12:06am. It has modified itself with delayed start time. If my Windows Task Scheduler did that on its own I would be very worried that a scheduled task is rewriting its own starting time.

This client is not cloud based but local server based. AND, the total backup time is still 57 minutes (including imported files). So, if it starts at 12:01am then it ends at 12:58am. If it starts at 12:06am, it ends at 1:03am. So far the total time to prep and encrypt the auto data backup is 57 minutes. Perhaps a general question I should search/start is how do you manage auto backup and when do you clean out old backups? For my client, I have wrote a program to delete older than 60 days and placed that as Windows Task Scheduler. But, maybe that would be for another topic.

Hi, Very interesting screen shot of the apparent change in time of execution--thanks. Have the backup files gotten larger? I'd be even more worried if an AC backup of data and imported items took the same 57 minutes to finish after more than 50 days of normal office activity. It almost seems as if 6 minutes has slowly been added (in a confusing way) to the entire backup task. Those small but random-size time-increases in the apparent start-time look awfully like a backup-program dealing with daily data growth. Your original post suggests that you may not have remote access, but if you do, you could connect, start task manager around 11:55 p.m., and watch to see whether the AC backup starts hogging the CPU and disk-activity at midnight or six minutes later. As for the annoying problem of automatically deleting old AC backups, this AC forum usually recommends the free autodelete program from CyberD: https://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/cyber_ds_autodelete.htmlIt's a good idea to try your autodelete settings on a test folder to make sure that it works the way that you want. Have you tested some of the backups for restoration?
It has been our experience that very large .enc files, especially those including imported items have a larger failure rate than those only contain the DB backups. YMMV, but testing some of them for restoration will give you a baseline for that practice.

Hello to all and especially to programmers, I believe there is something seriously wrong with auto database backup program. If it went back to original time of 12:01am I would understand...but now the backup is happening in the middle of the day!! I seriously suggest the programmers of Amazing Charts to review this issue and address it rather quickly. Otherwise, users of this program may not even know why local server may be slow at times. Has anyone ever noticed this or am I making a big fuss over minor thing?

I have similar issues. We moved AC hosted service and the backup utility messes up every time I try to backup import items. The utility runs at odd times, the backup starts failing and ultimately the AC / Sql server stops working. THE AC tech support has to be involved to get it fixed. I am told that I do not need to worry about the import items and in the worse case scenario, I will lose only 24 hr worth of work but it makes me nervous.The backup utility remains stuck even after I uncheck import items and reset the backup tome. Any suggestions??
