omg. I almost never find a great feature on a small update worth upgrading for. But, the upgrade, 3.7.12 has the best feature in long while. The ability to click on a button below the plan window which prints out the plan as instructions for the patient. It documents that you did this in the note. It also prints it out as a letter to the patient telling them the plan. An example:
BILL,
Here is a summary of the plan discussed. Please contact us if you have any further questions or concerns:
PRESCRIBE: Augmentin tablets 875 mg, 1 po bid for 10 days, # 20, RF: None.
Continue nebulizer treatments as prescribed three times a day. Call the office or go to ED for fever > 101 or difficulty breathing.
F/U in three days.
================== So, all of this information is already there. It is simply extracted into a note. Plus, since it is in the letter writer, 1) you can insert any number of templates as instructions -- which may not be in the note, but 2) the letter will be saved to the patient's chart.
Some have asked for this before and Jon apparently listened. Very nice Jon. Thanks.

I'm gonna love that. I was going to do the download today, but our new server wouldn't let me do the back up. Maybe this weekend.

This is simply amazing.
A very significant milestone in the maturity of AC. This is wonderful.
The only thing I noticed is: Once you do use this- the next patient you pull up from the MAIN SCREEN - (not from next patient chart note) and you want to write a letter- it pulls up the old patients data/name/contents.
Is it a bug? (but this can be easily deleted, so not a major bug)

Joe, Since you have seen what you are talking about I gather you did send a bug report, yes? But I think Nancy is going to love that one. I have been waiting the last few days thru the first few releases in light of my other tech issues. Didn't want to throw another confounding variable into the mix until I get that rest of these issues ironed out. But once we've got our hardware under control, then I think we will finally give 3.7 a whirl...

I can't count the number of times I have had to type a completely different document for the patient and then go back and document that I documented it for them. I can't tell you how cool this is. And, it wasn't even on my top ten list! Now, if we can just get to that top ten list. Let's see...can we make the borders of the program red.

Joe, Do you remember when the message center thing for interoffice emails was sort of doing the same thing? I wonder if it might be the same cause and effect???

Once you do use this- the next patient you pull up from the MAIN SCREEN - (not from next patient chart note) and you want to write a letter- it pulls up the old patients data/name/contents. This happens when you write letters from within the lab interface as well; hopefully fixing one will fix the other.

I love this feature by the way. This will be a very versatile tool. It can be used to generate hospital admission orders, only a little less convenient than the regular letter writer, but at least you can print them out before saving the letter.
