I just received a message from the local Walmart stating that all controlled prescriptions that are faxed into the pharmacy must have a "wet signature" as opposed to an electronically generated signature. For those of us who use UPDOX for the non-schedule II prescriptions, this is going to be an additional burden. Does anyone know if the E RX circumvents this?

First, at least here, non-CII scripts can be faxed and called in. If I send them, I send via EPCS. If my CMA sends it, she just calls or faxes. No wet signature.
One question I have is are you using EPCS yet. They can't be turned down from there. I would call the REAL PHARMACIES, as Wally Worlds aren't really considered real pharmacies. I am pretty sure they consider wet signatures as those that are dipped in water and actually make it to their pharmacy wet.
We basically tell our patients to go to a real pharmacy.

HA HA
We have ONE "real pharmacy" (independently owned, with a real pharmacist with real-world experience) in town, and 5 chain stores and one hospital owned pharmacy. Population <20,000.
Can't imagine who is taking enough drugs to keep them all in business. The chain pharmacists use up their free time in "consultations" with customers, and especially, second-guessing physician prescriptions (in the absence of any clinical data or even an interview with customer).

Mel,
Yes EPCS circumvents this. When I was trying to get Exostar approved I complained a bit but very much worth all of the hassle. EPCS with Exostar is the next best thing to apple pie. Very glad I did it.
