Home Forums Discussions Problems Disappearing ICD-10 codes in the search

Okay so I have had this issue a few times and because I am basically sports med doing Ortho, I don't think AC really cares about these minor things. But i am going to put it out there.

So multiple times on multiple versions including my current version of 9.20, something will disappear. So like right now the "right ankle pain" and "left ankle pain" search is gone. I can search by the ICD10 code of M25.571, for right ankle pain but AC has reassigned this to Sinus Tarsi Right ankle. You used to be able to change the labels in the past and now I can't change them.

Anyone have a fix for this? Please help!

I too miss the ability to change the dx text while leaving the code untouched such that I could find the dx by MY Description. That "feature", i heard, was blamed on some regulatory issue, but don't take that as gospel either.
You can change the diagnosis test in the Assessment text box, just leave the # and : and parentheses alone. That new descriptive text will stay in your note and appear on your orders, and the code behaves correctly for billing.
Of course if you use ctrl-N to start a new note, your changes will vanish from your current note. (can be copied back from past visits if needed)

I agree! I also wish that with the new system of A,D, whatever for initial, subsequent, sequela, they would allow you to click on the one you have in the assessment and pick the new on you need so you don't have to type it into the search box.

We do care, really. We're actually in discussions now about ways to improve this particular experience for you. It has its challenges as we do need to follow certain guidelines behind the scenes that you may be be aware of. We at AC never change the description you see without specific direction from ICD10 and SNOMED. ICD10 is just part of the puzzle. SNOMED then publishes alternate descriptions that we need to add into AC so you have more granularity in the descriptions you choose. SNOMED can assign dozens of different descriptions to a single ICD10 code and we need to expose all of them for you. Ankle pain can be found under M25.579 or by typing in "ankle pain". There is no Diagnosis code for "right ankle pain" so that's why you can't find it. I can appreciate the time when when we allowed providers to change the description on the codes but it becomes a nightmare to manage with all the new guidelines. We're looking to make it a better experience where possible, particularly on feature you use all day long. I think we have some more work to do regarding favorites and allow you more control there. Also we need to allow you to flag a refined code as a favorite so you don't have to refine it every time. We always open to suggestions...we get most of our good ideas from you! Thanks
