I suddenly lost the ability to import directly from my brother scanner. I keep getting fatal error. However I still can scan normally using paper port. I tried to reinstall all my brother MFC drivers but no luck. Does any one have an idea what might be the problem? I appreciate any feed back. Thanks

This what I did and it did fix the problem. Thank you for your help. What surprise me that I called technical angle support and told me it's a problem in printer scanner driver need installation. It's frustrating when support person does't know how to solve the problem and insist on something wrong. Thank you for your input.

System restore not the most exacting of fixes, I just changed my main workstation from Windows 7 to Windows 8.1 and it interacted funny with my Brother MFC; I ended up just using the Windows fax/scanner drivers that came with 8.1 and once used to it OK

I would like to know if the printer scanner has to be connected directly to PC with cable to be able to import scanned document to AC or it can be connected with network via Ethernet connection? I appreciate all your help and feed back.

How is the speed with that, bala? Is this just an occasional document, or do you do it regularly?

hello Jon , speed seems pretty good . I have a Brother MFC L 2740 DW . I am able to scan from 3 different computers into AC with virtually no change in speed. If you select the scanner from the drop down menu where it asks the default scanner and set it to that scanner it should work , thats what works for me hope this helps bala

When you say network, you mean Ethernet cable connecting the machine( scanner/ printer) to the Ethernet by a cable. Is that right? I have a brother MFC 2740DW also. And I have an older one MFC 8460N. For some reason it could not scan or import directly from scanner. It give me fatal error. It is related to Twain manager. Is it related to the PC? I appreciate any a feed back. Thank you very much.

the scanner is connected via ethernet. it is also connected to one of the computers by USB. you may have to install the brother software on all the computers you wish to scan from ( brother allows install on 5 computers ) as some drivers may be needed , after that it works . try that if you havent already Bala
