I have upgraded to Ver 9.1.0 and unable to use my quest password for care 360. It logs in on www.care360.com
but no through AC.
Quest passes the buck to care 360.

any suggestions.

Sunil: Wish I could help on that. I suggest you call tech support... and sometimes I have them talk with my Quest rep. Do you recommend the 9.1?

Yes the improvements are wonderful
Best release since I have been since 2012
Many time saving improvements medication import, recon orders while signing them
Finally able to import CCD from EPIC electronically
Go for it

AC is moving in the correct direction

A few improvements in orders will also be helpful

Sunil,

Are you using care360 to just order labs? If so, you can print out the requisition from AC and give it to the patient. Quest accepts these printed order requisitions and there's no need to do Quest's work for them ie entering the labs or filling out their requisitions.

I have been doing this for years without any issue.

I got this to work where the request now goes to quest directly
Have to try it on some patients
The log in is different than the care360 login
AC helped with this
Thanks Anthony

Sunil/Anyone,

Can you tell me the workflow to enter orders for Quest. Do we need the patient insurance info as well?

How do you guys handle a lab drawn in house? my staff enters all the info into the quest computer that they 'gave' us and then quest does a pickup. this seems to me that we are doing quest's job. do you draw the blood put it in the bag but with what paperwork? and how do you keep track of what and who went out and has come back in? i know i could do the direct input from the lab into AC but that is another added expense i am not willing to pay for......yet

Immediatemed,

As I have posted here before, I do not use Quests computer to enter lab orders. I'm in agreement with you that we are Quests work.

We draw labs inhouse. We simply print the requisitions straight from Amazing Charts and put them in the specimen bag. Order whatever labs you are going to order, then before you hit the SEND or SAVE button, print the requisition. Quest has been accepting these from me for over five years now without issue. The req gets scanned on their end and they use OCR software. The only thing is if you have more than one provider in your office, you need to put the ordering providers NPI number on the requisition but it can't be hand written (due to the software). We made labels or you can make a stamp with the NPI number on it. Putting the ordering providers NPI numbers allows the labs to be sent to the appropriate individual if you are using the intereface.

We have a "logbook" where we keep track of what is sent (tracked in Excel).

These are steps in workflow

Create Lab order through Orders i.e. CBC, BMP etc.

Checkout Secretary pulls up this order through the following steps
Select patient Right click and first choice is Checkin/Checkout or click net to the calendar in Checkin/Checkout.

[Linked Image from amazingcharts.com]

Go to tab Checkout and select orders sent to all.
Click Open order.

Click on Quest in lower right part of screen.

Initially a log in to Quest has to be done for the 1st time. This login is different than the Quest 360 login. The demographics and lab ordered autopopulate into the Quest website.

Specific lab ordered needs to be mapped to the Quest lab i e CBC to Quest CBC.
(This step is done only one time as it remembers the mapping ongoing.)

[Linked Image from amazingcharts.com]

Click on PSC Hold

A form with bar code is generated and goes directly to Quest. (I have verified this with a few patients)
The form can also be printed and handed to the patient instead of order form.

WHEN LAB RETURNS BACK VIA INTERFACE

When the lab is received back into AC via interface, the lab is automatically reconciled to the order and completed. There is a green button that lights stating the orders have been automatically reconciled.

You can verify this step manually. (I have and it is accurate)
This has eliminated multiple steps in reconciling orders in AC and on staff time.

Avoids separate tracking mechanisms for orders, as they get completed automatically

AC needs to work a little harder in improving the Orders section.

(1) A search box when placing orders.

(2) Similar to the date filter in Imported items, a date filter to hide old orders (3,6,12 months) in the Past Encounters tab will be very helpful as the no of orders have grown over the 3 years I have used AC.

(3) Have a check box to hide completed orders.

(4) Under past encounters when looking up orders the date orders are placed should be reformatted to just display date and not date and time and should be visible in the screen as the first column and not the last column.

(5) An easier method to delete an order, during charting (other than from the Orders screen).
I usually have to ask someone else to delete the order, when the patient or physician changes their mind.

Thanks for the workflow Sunil.

Can we still use if we don't have the insurance info in AC?
We only use it for EMR, (not for Practice management)

I also use AC as an EMR
Have X Link interface to Medisoft my PM software so ins info crosses over

X Link works but they put a fun to your head with support
I only use it because of not having another interface

Anyway pts need to give ins info to the lab and lab needs to take care of their billing not a doctors issue or responsibility

If you want more information about Quest Order Entry and the workflows, you can also check out the AC User Guide: http://amazingcharts.com/fileadmin/.../Amazing_Charts_User_Guide_Version92.pdf

Sunil,

Anyway to by pass the step of sending Orders as a message? When I want to order a test in the room with the patient, and link it to quest, I have to send message to myself and enter again in quest which is redundant.

In v 9.3 we've added the Quest Order Entry button to the AC Orders menu..9.3 will be available later in November. It will be available for beta in a few weeks if you're interested in getting an early version.
