Can anyone help with a problem we're having. I need to know if it is possible to place an order for a future date that will not show up until the date that it is due (the same as a reminder).

You can write an order and put a future date on it. But it will not show up like a reminder in the patient's chart.
What exactly are you trying to do? Write an order for a future lab, mammo? There might be some type of work around if you can give us more information

I put in "fake" appointments in AC since I don't use the Automated Reminder system. When the fake appointment pops up on the schedule, I have a perfectly timed reminder of whatever it is I need to get auth for or order prior to the patient's next appointment. We don't start seeing patients until 9AM, so my template is opened at 8 AM so I have 4 daily "reminder" slots available. As a very small practice, this method works well for us.
