Our practice has been experiencing user disconnects and have to reboot to get reconnected. The users just suddenly can't bring up Amazing Charts as it freezes. They go from thier desk see a patient or they can be just sitting there and Amazing charts freezes. User reboots. Happens several times a day.

We use the virtual IT to clear all connections and users can then get back in.

We have done the following to ensure the network, desktops and server does not go to sleep/hibernate and cause a disconnect.

We turned off sleep/hibernate mode on all computers under Windows power settings (Server and Desktop)
We turned off power management on all the network interface cards (server and Desktop)

We changed the Autodisconnect and KeepConn registry entries feature on the server and desktops (see link)

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/297684

Anybody have any ideas?

We are running the latest and greatest version. Not 8.3

Windows 7 Pro all desktops 64 bit SP1
Server 2008 R2 Enterprise 64 bit SP1
All systems have the latest Microsoft service packs.

I'm assuming this has just started recently?

Have you looked at the network switch since it appears to be affecting the entire network? If your file/folder shares and/or drive maps are getting disconnected randomly. Also, consider the possibility of NIC failure in the server. I would start at the switch first though.

Actually this has been going on since upgrade to Windows 2k8. Upgraded the switch to gigbit a year ago.

I will look at those items.

Is anyone using amazing charts with AVG Free? Are you aware of any issues with this virus program. Is it on the approved list?

O wow. That's quite some time. So this has been going on for years?

I don't think AC approves any AV products. I would recommend adding it to your exceptions. A lot of AV products flag AC as a virus due to the way it makes hard system calls.
