Has anybody else looked at the version 9 release notes? Some really cool (and looooong requested features, including some "why did it take so long?" ones).
I'm torn between hopping on right away (promised in April) and heeding long standing IT advice to never install versions that end in .0 (they are often just beta versions).

Roger,
I looked at the release notes as well and there are some awesome features in there. Nice to know they are listening to our suggestions. I'll probably wait a month or so after the release.

I too am cautiously optimistic. But why do they pride on features we "waited years for?" What took so long?
Also, I did not see anything regarding interoperability between other AC practices, let alone other EMRs.

Making Amazing Charts compliant with Meaningful Use took a lot of time and resources. Had it not been for Meaningful Use, I'm sure those resources would have been put to better use getting all the features users were requesting sooner.

It looks there are some changes that will motivate those of us who tend to be cautious about upgrades. Word is that beta testing will be more extensive than usual and that may help. Who knows... it may be 9.1 by April.

Jon,
And now you won't have to click to delete the message from your inbox when you sign off labs. Thought of you when I read that

For testing purposes, I expect that we will have a instance up for testing integration and several other factors. That said, that is far different use profile than a practice in production. Our client base is large enough that there is always the first penguin, so I expect I'll have a perspective by the time we see folks in FL in April.

Nephros,
I am with you that it is going to have some incredible features. But, I have to say if you use the formula:

Past AC releases + Beta testing seems to be done on forum, I think you would be remiss to jump right on it.

What I do, although the last time I posted this, I caught flak from many, is install it on a sandbox or even better a VM and play with it. It isn't nearly the same as using it in production as far as learning and finding bugs that apply to you. But, at least when you hear about bugs, you can do a risk/benefit assessment. It has also been true that it is difficult to go back once you install a new version especially a completely new version.

It just seems like even "showstoppers" get through. The last thing you want is to have all these fancy features, but ePrescribe doesn't work or it takes two minutes for a chart to open.

As Indy says, wait for the first penguin. Actually, wait for about 10 penguins. I truly hate saying this, but it has just been the pattern. Plus, with this many new features, there is that much higher of a chance there will be bugs.

I'm very interested in: CCDA export to HIE infrastructure: The infrastructure for sending patient CCDAs automaticallyto HIEs has been implemented, a major step in the push to be more interoperable

Of course, that is an interface, which has a cost, I presume

Hi Folks,
We actually have 29 practices using Version 9 Beta in production at this time.
Some have been using it for well over a month.
There were a few minor issues reported and fixed right away but no "showstoppers".
We are actually getting very good feedback from all practices on version 9.

Thank you,
Anthony@AC

We just upgraded last week but the Quest Auto-Import is not working properly. For some reason it is saying the demographics can not be matched. I verified that the demographics matched. The interface techs said that this has been an ongoing issue through many versions of AC. Coincidentally, though, it never happened to us until the V9 upgrade. We had to take it off because it was generating 5+ error messages per patient which was just clogging up the inbox.

Indy.....that session was enormously valuable to us! (the live and uncensored group) Thank you so much for including our perspectives. Likewise it was perfect that we were able to hear the observations of the docs. It takes a village..............

Upgraded from 6.6.7 --> 9.0.0 beta using self install March 12, 2016 and have had no problems.Windows 7 Pro Peer to Peer network, 7 computers, 1 provider, 3 active users at a time.
I had Amazing Charts Guardian Support ready on speed dial, but miraculously had no issues.

At ACUC 2016 they said they put a lot of work into streamlining the upgrade process and I believe them.

Happy so far.

Josue, I use Quest import interface and fortunately have not seen the errors you describe (yet).
It really is nice to be able to set up auto download of labs, and not to have to rely on someone to do this task daily.

KenP, I'm glad its working for you all. I am assuming you were setup with the Quest interface before v9. Your network is similar to ours: W7 Ultimate server in a P2P setup. We, however, upgraded from 8.2.2. About 4 workstations had installation errors that we resolved by doing a complete uninstall/reinstall of AC. I just wonder why our Quest interface isn't cooperating.

It is not "official" but if you ask support for an upgrade, supposedly they will give you the links or schedule an appointment to upgrade to 9 (if you want help).

Hi Folks, Actually our version 9.0.0 has been officially released, but we are not pushing it out because it's being followed up by version 9.1 which is being beta tested now. Version 9.1 has some enhanced security features and will have Integrated Clinical Assessments. The assessments module is being finalized now. So with that said our plan is to push out a general release of version 9.1 around the end of April. But if you would like to get upgraded to 9.0 now, you can make an appointment with Client Services here. Just make the appointment request and mention that you want to upgrade to version 9.0 and we will be more than happy to get you there. Thank you, Anthony@AC

Basically they?re ?screeners??.for example the one added to 9.0 was the PHQ depression screener. If a patient meets the criteria a button displays on the MRE informing the physician that an assessment exists. You click the button and answer a series of questions..in this case resulting in a score. The score is added to tracked data, a pdf of the screener is added to imported items and a note is added to the Assessment saying the PHQ clinical assessment was completed.
Got it? Get it? Good! (from a commercial)

I believe for a valid assessment the patient must fill out the screen.
