One feature we have always wanted from AC was a way to reconcile tests within the program. This is a big hole in the program, and most of us do not even use the Orders section for this. It is incredibly cumbersome to try and reconcile through Orders. All they really needed to fix was a way to reconcile the orders WHEN tests come in. As it is now, you have to manually reconcile all the orders, which takes some much time that it isn't worth doing. (Please AC, fix this problem, we've been asking for YEARS!). Many of our practices have (yet another) work-around. We print all the orders and put them in a notebook. The staff goes through every few days, and if a patient has not followed up, they make a reminder call.

I'm wondering if others can share any better ways. We are mostly paperless, and this is one more area of printing I want to bring to an end. Is there a way to establish a new box in Updox (like the archive, trash, etc?) We could save and process our reconciling in there if that were possible. Please help me out if there is a better way, and AC reps, tell me if you plan to ever fix this problem.

What do practices do when patients do not have test done
Should we have one more button added refused or not completed by patient

The labs coming in by interface download should automatically get matched and get completed by the program without any human interaction

I am training staff to complete labs on daily basis as they come in
Similarly the person that routes the fax from radiology into AC from Updox (radiology is given a free seperate fax no that has been by Updox in a separate Nurse in box

Bondooc,

We use an excel spreadsheet for keeping track/reconciling orders. It's a pain the #^%. One of Amazing Charts biggest weaknesses in my humble opinion is reconciling (or lack thereof).

A previous user on the board (Leslie we miss you), made folders on a PC named for the month (Jan, Feb etc). She would place a PDF copy of the order in the folder in the month for which it was ordered. As the results came in, she would delete the file in the folder. That way, anything that was still in the folder was obviously not reconciled.

Instead of using UPDOX, you could make up a user in AC called "Reconcile" and send reminders to that user. Give anyone who reconciles the password for that "user". That way it wouldn't clutter up everyone's inbox with messages. Not sure it's HIPAA compliant that way but it's an easy workaround (easy to set up but time consuming to use)

I have a user set up as Marty recommended and orders that are completed are sent to that user
Have to empty his box every month or two
The Updox seperate fax no is great that it sorts out and gets the important reports out of the other mess of faxes that we receive
Tried to use a seperate fax no for pharmacies but not one changed this no

So physicians have to change and change and change EMR, MU, PQRS, ICD 10 but a pharmacy cannot change a fax no!!

I really hope AC will put this on their shortlist for the future problems to work out.
