Since updating several weeks ago, nothing but problems! 1. My partner loses his social history spontaneously on patients, now over 10 times. 2. One of our assistants can not even log on to Amazing Charts. 3. AC ver8.2.2 is amazingly slow and freezes often.
AC response is that its a problem on our end. Never had a problem w/ ver 7 We have the same IT support company/tech that our local hospital utilizes. After spending $500 on him, he feels that problem is definitely AC.
I guess at this point, anyone who hasn't upgraded to 8 should wait. Perhaps AC is "waiting to get bought out" by a bigger company or just doesn't have the resources to support their software/development.
I'm not sure. I wanted to avoid going to Epic or one of the other dominant EMRs but looks like that it's just a matter of time. IMHO.

Why did you hire an IT support company to troubleshoot AC in the cloud? He probably has no access to AC's administrative systems. All they can really do is troubleshoot Internet connectivity with the cloud.
It most likely has to do with resource allocation. This version is the most demanding one yet. Cloud providers aren't going to increase the resources dedicated to your practice/Virtual Machine for free.
See this: http://amazingcharts.com/ub/ubbthreads.php/topics/65425/Re:_Why_is_8.2.2_slow_and_how_#Post65425
AC needs to pre-load tons of data even with empty charts.
If you were running a local server, my advice would be to get some SSD's setup with a fast Xeon processor. But with AC Cloud (Not Indy's. He gives people the option of adding SSD's.), you're kind of stuck until AC optimizes the code or renegotiates resource allocation with their provider.

Sandeep, Could you give a recommendation of minimal server setup, specs, software that would make a significant difference to overcome the AC software issues?

Nope....we were told by AC support to get our IT person to research. He's now been in touch with AC and has "proof" that it's not on our end. We had been saying that all along. Bummer it cost me $500 to prove it.

Dave,
I've been using ac/cloud two years ago. We've also noticed some slowing with v8--closing charts and writing prescriptions. But overall it's worked well for us. One of our office computers with Windows 8 freezes up a lot but the others (Win7 and a Mac) have no big issues. I think I'm going to ditch Windows 8.
When you say that your partner has lost social history spontaneously, what do you mean? Does he complete the chart, sign it off, then reopen it to find the entered info gone?

Thanks for the info Sandeep, wonder if anyone has compared how a Xeon based SSD server running Server Essentials or Server Standard impacts the problems with AC V8 speed as compared to other machines like my current peer to peer Win 7 Pro AMD fx Quadcore overclocked at 4.6gHz 16GB Ram 240GB SSD
Sorry this isn't exactly true to the 'cloud' title of this thread probably belongs in the why is 8.2.2 slow thread

If you're interested, I can load your database into one of our test servers to see if that's the issue. Just PM me.
Also, an overclocked AMD quadcore is still probably slower than its Intel counterpart. For instance, the FX-4100 has significantly slower single core performance compared to its similarly priced i3-4130 Intel Dual Core Processor.
EDIT: It's around 35% slower according to Passmark's Single Core CPU Test. Remember with SQL Express, faster cores is better than more cores. You can't compare AMD clock speeds with Intel clock speeds. The speed difference is due to architecture. Frankly, AMD is way behind Intel.
Assuming you have a FX-4100 with a base clock of 3.8GHz. A 4.6 GHz is a 21% Overclock (4.6/3.8 x 100). Assuming perfect theoretical scaling (very unlikely), you would expect a 21% performance boost . The Intel Core i3 is still 14% faster. That's Intel's lowest model next to the Celeron. i5/i7/Xeon are even better with 50-60% better performance.

The chart has social hx when he prints and closes chart but then it's gone when reopening chart.
