We can now send a secure message directly to the patient from within the chart. But this message is not saved in the chart. It is so important to keep documentation concerning what you did or did not tell the patient, I believe a message sent this way should automatically be saved in the chart...either as an addendum or in Imported Items as an Outgoing Message (or you own custom category). Can this feature be added please?

Wayne, did you enable Secure Messages from AC via Updox? How did you set it up in AC? I mapped users to Updox, but it fails with a network error.

You do need to be using V7 or above to map the users to AC. I received an error when i tried it using V6.6.7 but once I upgraded to V8.2.2 everything performed smoothly. So Yes, I mapped the users in Updox. But the process is more complicated than they imply. Unfortunatley, I've forgotten the additional steps I took.

John, after mapping you have to activate Direct Trust. Below is the email Updox sent me:

Your practice does not have an active Direct email address because you have not completed the Direct Trust Activation. Once you have completed this vetting process, you can begin using Direct email. This is HIPAA compliant, provider to provider email. Your direct sub domain can be alicecoghillmd.amazing-direct.com. Users will have direct user names to come before the @.

To access the Direct Trust Activation, log in to Updox web application (ui.myupdox.com). Then follow Menu, Tools, Direct Trust Activation.
