I'm certain this topic has been previously threaded to death, so please feel free to point me in the direction of a thread that may have already answered this.

As a solo practitioner, I have successfully gotten Lab interfaces from Quest and Clinical Path Labs, but have been unsuccessful at coaxing the two big hospital labs in my area, as well as Labcorp, to create an electronic interface. Since I do not have a lab draw station at my office, I would say that at least 60% or more of my patients go to the hospital labs or Labcorp (often for insurance or other convenience reasons). Therefore, I am only able to secure perhaps 20-25% (at best) of my lab results as "structured data". I have hence given up hope of ever being able to complete Stage 2 of MU.

Has anyone found themselves in a similar situation but found some sort of a workaround?

Thanks

Labcorp has an interface with AC. Check the interface list. And between Labcorp and Quest you should cover darn near all insurance carriers.

We're in a worse situation here - all our non-CLIA-waived labs go through the local hospital. I can't see switching to someone like Qwest because it would violate the purpose of MU - our local consultants would lose access to the results, i.e. less interoperability.

I tried over an over to get Quest (to whom I was sending most of my lab draws) to call me back to set up interface, to no avail. Finally, I asked my local hospital (in Houston, TX) and they said "Sure!". So now, unless required by insurance, I send all my lab draws to the hospital. Quest finally called me back and said that now my volume was too low to pay for the interface, but I could pay for it. Not gonna do it. Wouldn't be prudent. laugh

Hello, I am not sure if this will help with your situation, but when I had a similar problem with importing I simply created a second folder. Structured data goes into a "lab" folder. Unstructured data goes into a folder called "labs-scanned." When AC tabulates percentages, it only looks at the "lab folder and allows your numbers to work properly.

That's a very innovative approach....
Can u further explain how to get labs routed into each respective folder? Thanks!

Actually in reviewing the MU Wizard, it suggests that the denominator for the Clinical Lab core measure is set by the number of labs you ordered; moreover, it goes on to say that scanned-in lab results have no effect on the numerator...... Therefore, would the methodology above truly result in resolution of the lab interface issue??
