Hi,

When coding charts for billing I have noticed that there are only 4 fields for ICDs for each CPT. What do you do if you have 4,5,6 or more ICDs that you want to record for a single ICD? I use a local biller who is able to list up to 10 ICDs per CPT. I am using AC 6.3.3--do the upgrades to AC address this situation ?

Thanks,
Dr. Dinosaur

The billing in AC is quite horrible in many ways. You can only list 4 ICD9 codes but that is all most insurance companies will look for anyway. If they want more they will ask for documentation.

The main issue AC's superbill had with me is the inability to enter multiple CPT codes for the same procedure as line items. For instance, if I inject both knees of a patient, I can't put down the large yjoint CPT code twice, I can only put it down once and put a 2 units after it. All of my payors will not accept units except for "J" codes which are medicines. So imagine my suprise when I got a EOB back from Anthem saying I injected one facet joint for like 800 dollars or something crazy like that...I had actually injected 3 but since they don't count CPTs as units they lumped them all in together. It was a major mess. I contacted AC and their response was they were aware it was like that and had no intention of changing it. So if you do multiple procedures like I do, forget about using AC to bill.
