Is there some new feature in AC that is self upgrading. Suddenly out of blue all my computers say that i have a new version of AC and I need to run database tuner. This happened 1 month ago and I went through a fire drill and upgraded all the computers in the office( almost 10)

Again now, less than 3 weeks later we get the message again. I checked the client version it is the same.
It is V6.6.7_S5. I dont know what the heck is amazing charts doing in the background.

I am very tech savvy and know what all is happening.I have been using AC since almost version 3 or so, and get the feel they are messing around too much in the background, and tech support is going down the toilet.

anyone getting this run your database tuner message.

I've been noticing this with a couple people as well. What's the database path that the program is looking for? Is it on the C:\ drive?

Also, SQL 2005 may be interfering with AC. The computer could be seeing SQL 2005 when it should be looking for SQL 2012. I would check the path that AC is looking in first, then I would see if SQL 2005 is still active on the server.

Good idea Sandeep. Maybe I should just un-install SQL 2005. I know some sql 2005 was still there.

It is very annoying that suddenly I get a call from the office, and it takes me almost 3-4 hours to upgrade everyone and it is the same version.

I would wonder about the Clients loosing the path and defaulting to the Clint C:/ drive. But that's too obvious. Network issues may sometimes make them go looking. Is the main computer specified by name or IP address (network/server/amazing charts vs /192.168.0.10/amazing charts)? I've seen the computers suddenly decide they need the latter and loose the connection, thus asking for the DB. It can default to the C:/ drive/Amazing charts.

I don't think AC is forcing updates, I know they are considering a microsoft like update (either auto or message) in the not to immediate future, but it's not here yet.

Dear Nephron,

Same problem on an AC 6.6.5 network. Users get false message that an upgrade requires running the database tuner, no one can log onto AC.

Just restarting the server fixes it.

But the problem comes back randomly.

Better solution is to stop and re-start the main SQL service for Amazing Charts (not the Agent) on the server through services.msc.

Running AC on lots of stations (14 at example office) can confuse the AC SQL service. New logons get the false run-tuner message. Task manager will show lots of RAM use on server. Stop and restart AC's SQL service, RAM use drops, users can log on to AC again without false run-tuner message.

Set task scheduler to run 2-line batch file daily after hours:

net stop "SQL Server (AMAZINGCHARTS)"
net start "SQL Server (AMAZINGCHARTS)"

Cheers,

Carl Fogel
