We're just starting to set up portal accounts Updox. Does anyone know a way to generate a list of patients who have the portal, either in AC or in Updox?

John, I think if you check with Updox there is a way to sync all your AC data with emails into the Updox address book, so I would give Updox a shout, as that may be your best bet! Good Luck with your portal!

John, I am re reading your question, and I think you want to have a list of the portals once created to refer to whether in AC or Updox? I do not know if there is a way to do that, I click on the address book in Updox, and if the portal account has been created it shows up there.

Perhaps in V7 of AC there will be something to do this since the portal is part of MU2.

Got a nice note from Updox Support:
"We have such a report in Updox. Go to the Tools Menu Select Analytics Select Save patient spreadsheet to desktop
The spreadsheet has the name, chart #, portal username, email for each patient. You may sort by username field to see who has a portal account."

John, Thank you for the feedback!
I think this wil be very helpful, and most of the time my nurse does the leg work sending information to the portal, I just do the "heavy lifting" and get stuff to her inbox, and she does the rest. However, my morning task is doing all of the direct imported labs through Quest, I eyeball the results and then send the results to the Updox inbox then in Amazing Charts I generate a templated letter "dear so and so, here is your lab result and will discuss at your upcoming appt" and send that to Updox inbox as well. Then I sign off and the labs and letter are now part of the permanent record in AC, and I am done with the process, and my nurse sends to the patient portal immediately. The whole process takes less than 30-45 seconds.
Most of the time I can remember who has a portal, but if not I click on address book to see, which is a few extra steps. So by having a list may reduce a few clicks and what does JBS say?

I just thought of another good use for the portal--Class II renewals. We're going to start shifting these over to the portal rather than having patients call for their prescription. We can also use the portal to let patients know that we'll be on vacation so they can check and be sure they won't run out while we're away. Has anyone else tried this?

I have a large contingency that will free text any of their prescriptions, so this has cut the phone traffic and voice mail prescription requests to a minimum. But these do include some of the Class II requests. Works extremely well with any script, my nurse will copy and paste, and send to AC inbox, and then I take care of e-scribe, e-fax, or print to paper. My nurse will just tell me how many and where to send. I also have designed a prescription request form so the patient can fill out, click on the form at the Updox portal site. But most patients free text their requests, but if you want to see my forms let me know and I can make you into a fake patient and you can play around with the forms I have made.
Regarding vacation, I have designed the Updox portal site, the first few paragraphs lay out the ground rules and how to retrieve and send messages and forms available. But near the end an area for messages, and I will put when I will be away for vacation. Also the portal wide broadcast is useful to design a short message such as "Flu shots are available call or message Dawn to have one."

Jimmie,
Thanks--i'd love to check out your portal. Can you send me an invite as a "patient"? My email is: howland at charter.net. Montana's a bit far to go for my checkup, but with AC/Portal/Skype/etc who knows? I did have a patient for a while that lived in California and used to come see us in Massachusetts when home visiting her family.

John, I have had a few desperate folks who travel from one end of this state or other to come see me, and have even had a Canadian or two, and one currently in Mexico. But I think they really come to see my nurse. Which brings me to my next point. I think I will wait till I get to the office and incorporate her help, then will send you the invite. So give me a couple of hours, then I will do it right the first time. If you see any handouts or templates you like, there is a great manual on the Updox website that walks you through on how to construct these. Or just ask, and I may be able to help, if not will ask my wife who made most of mine. She is the computer geek.

John, I royally screwed up as my nurse was in a meeting and I tried but created 2 accounts for you, got rid of one and all the information I sent to you in your private message section. So if you have trouble getting on to the portal let me know.
