I used to just copy and paste my hospital notes into AC, in order to have a record and generate an invoice. With meaningful use, though, you have to check all the MU items every time you enter an encounter as a progress note. Is it MU "legal" to just paste the hospital note as an addendum and manually make a superbill for it? How do you guys do your hospital encounters?

I noticed that if a hospital encounter is entered as an addendum, AC does not recognize that the patient was seen, even if a bill was generated with a CPT hospital encounter code. Sure, patient not seen for three years in the OFFICE, but just seen last week in the HOSPITAL. When I do searches later, for example, of patient's seen in the last two years, this patient would not show up on that list... Not necessary an issue, but just sharing...

Instead of an addendum, you can enter the hospital visit as a new encounter and click the "Alter Date" button to change to whatever date you want. smile

Thanks Serene, that's what I used to do before meaningful use. Now the hospital takes care of all the MU stuff, so I don't need to enter it again in AC when I past my hospital note into AC. I could just make a super bill without putting any note at all in AC, but I like having the note in AC to refer to.

When will we be able to enter the hospital admit date in AC , which is needed for the claims submission?

imcffp,

You can do that right now. You use the "Other Billing Info" button.

Problem is, when you export your claim, the admit/discharge dates are magically missing. Same goes for CLIA numbers. You can enter them, but they do not export (at least not in the Preferred_1500 format).

About the only thing that goes through is the name of a referring provider.

I've asked when this will be fixed, and have been told it's not a priority.

If anyone knows where the script is that generates the export, I'd like to have a friend look at it.
