Would like some feedback from those actually using 6.6.5. I am playing in a sandbox with it, so I don't have great feedback.
I noticed that ePresribe will show cefprozil, but will it bring up Cefzil?

I "assume" the brand name is not being produced and only generics are available but it would be nice if you put in a brand name it would find the generic. A job for the CAB? Greg

Good theories, but unless they changed, it was never an issue. There is no rhyme or reason as to what will be listed. I just know that I may not make the switch given there is no Cefzil any more. We use it about 15 times per week, and I really don't want to use cefprozil instead.
Plus, if you think of Pulmicort and budesonide, you MUST use Pulmicort. By law they have to change it to a generic, but they don't have to change a generic to a brand.

I don't understand... why not just free-text what you want?

I'm not going to fax a drug that is already codified. Why does SureScripts just decide to remove Cefzil? I mean I can use cefprozil, just don't really want to.

Sorry,I'm late to this party. Was planning on upgrading from 6.3.3 soon. Are you guys saying that the current system has removed the Rx Brand names and only has the generic?

No. Sorry to confuse you. It has just randomly changed what meds are listed as brand and what are listed as generic.
I don't have 6.33, but type in Cefzil and see if it comes up. It does in 6.1.2. But, in 6.5.5, it doesn't. Not a huge deal. Depends on how many have changed and the effect. Typing in Cefzil will bring up cefprozil just by default of the letters.
But, currently I have memorized that I have to type acetaminophen-codeine 120 mg-12mg/5mL oral suspension to get Tylenol with codeine 120 mg,.etc or amoxicillin-clavulanate 600 mg-42.9 mg/5 mL oral liquid to get Augmentin 600 mg. Which is a bit of a nuisance, but I least I know. I just don't know how many they have changed.

Well, that's not a nuisance. That's a big @$$ nuisance. I'm sure Augmentin currently shows up. Alice is gonna get bent out of shape if I upgrade the system and she has to memorize stuff like that. And I won't blame her.

I completely agree. I'm not saying that the Augmentin has changed yet. Just an example. But, if it has changed with Cefzil, then you know it has changed with the other.
I think it would be cool if you typed Atarax, and just above it showed the generic hydroxyzine. Unfortunately, even with that, they are listed differently.

now that would be cool. you type in a major brand, and above or beside it is the generic. Nice idea.

In 6.3.3, type in "Cef..." and among the choices are three forms of Cezil as well as cefprozil. I agree that the prescribing interface, which I believe is provided by NewCrop, could be improved to be much more useful.

OK, it's official. No Cefzil in 6.6.5. However, you can get Ceftazadime, Cefotaxime and other IV Cephalosporins. All drugs I use on a daily basis in my office.

Looks like Cathy has the reason why Cefzil no longer appears in the eRx window.
