Hi, I am new to the Amazing Charts User Board,, might I ask some advice. I have a large Addiction Medicine Practice that accepts the welfare card. Needless to say, we are very busy. We currently use AC for demographics, scheduling,, and essentially as a filecabinent. We have many doc's that work only 4-8 hours per month, making them 'learn' a new EMR a bit of a challenge (one which I know I must address!). Anyway, I am looking at the entire process, from when a patient comes into our office and fills out their assesment form, to what the docs do. I love technology, and I always think,, wouldn't it be great if when a patient comes into the office if they would go to a touchscreen and tap responses to 20 questions and it was integrated immediatly into thier chart so the doc could see it,, then wouldnt it be great if the doc could do the same with his followup visit,, tap tap,,, I know their are templates,, just wonedered if you might be able to throw some thoughts at me as I try to climb this mountain. Thanks,, would be great if could respond using my private email: fak9717@hotmail.com Frank A. Kunkel, MD,,,, Pittsburgh,, PA

Does anyone use Instant Medical History, and how does it work?

Frank,
Do you use Updox portal and do you have internet access available for those in your waiting room? This may be difficult for all patients, but at least 50-75% I bet have email accounts. If so one could design a 20 question form with Updox, so that the patient could access before the office visit, in the waiting room with a tablet, answer the form, which when completed, could be immediately viewed on the Updox worksite, and then sent to AC inbox to be viewed by physician.
I am not currently doing this, but I have used appt requests, med requests, demographic forms and the medicare wellness survey. These are completed by the patient at home and sent via the portal, and then saved to the AC inbox/chart.
I do not see why this could not be modified by providing a tablet or two in the office waiting area, have staff help give directions on how to complete, and make this work for a majority of your patients, but not likely all will have an email address which is necessary to form the Updox portal.
I hope this helps.
