Does anyone know if there is a way to create order sets? For instance, I would like to create an order set titled "lithium start" and have it include all tests I would normally order (U/A, TSH, basic met. profile, lithium level). This way one click could print out all the orders at once without searching each individually. I could put all the orders on one line next to a check box but this looks too busy and doesn't allow for a group heading. Any suggestions? Thanks, Frank

Create these with a prefix Li TSH, Li BMP, etc then they fall in line and you can click each one. They will be next to each other, than looking for a bmp and then scrolling to t for tsh. There is no way to make an order set. You can put them all in one order in one line, however this can create an issue when the results come back partially, I.e. if patient did not give urine sample, when you reconcile, you will show all tests were completed, and cannot differentiate missing orders

We create order sets by making a template for the "other" tab of the order screen. We just list all the orders in 1 set and whatever other info we want (quest account #, closest location, etc.) Learned it from this board. Oh, we don't reconcile orders. If you track orders that way, this may not work.

Thanks, Sunil and Serene. Both great ideas. . We don't reconcile orders, so I may try the templates first.

I agree with order sets in "other" section. In 6.6.1 if you print orders in tabs (labs etc) it does no print diagnosis. In other it wont print if you click print until you "Add" then you can print and diagnosis shows up. BUG!!!

We currently use templates in the "other" section.
You can also create order sets by going into the admin section in "define orders & order sets".
For example we have something we call "Diabetes Panel" In the comments section of the "define orders & Order sets" I placed: "HgbA1C ; ALT, Urine Microalbumin"

one can use a number system, say use a number between 100-999 to proceed the order description. this way the orders can be clustered according to how you personally organize your thinking. you could then organize tests by disease category, organ system, or just testing clusters.

This is one of those things where you wish AC would take notice and think, "Wow, > 80% of users (based on this small sample) use the Other section for labs. I guess we don't need all those other tabs or at least we could make Other the default tab.
Sure, it only takes one more click, but as JBS says, Stop Useless Clicks, or something like that. I don't know how many times I have started typing and nothing happened, and I realized I needed to click on other.
Oh, yes, I have used Other since the tab has been there.
