hello, today each time I click on a patient to highlight and open their chart AC seems to freeze sometimes for 30 seconds but ultimately does highlight the patient and seems to work after that. I used AC utilities to optimise database, repair connections but has not improved the situation. This happens on my lap top which I use room to room and is not my main computer. I am using wireless , and this has never been a problem before Is this just a wireless connection problem or do I need to do something else? would appreciate any help thanks Bala

do maintenance on your computer system asap and look for things that are clogging the system...I am sure more people will help. I find that when my drive gets too full things get weird. If you are wireless see if anyone is taking your bandwidth....

I doubt it is anything to do with your wireless or your computer or it would happen to more things. My guess. What happens when you simply double-click on the chart? But, I guess it could be your computer.
First thing I would always do would connect it directly to the main computer to take wireless out of the equation. You may need a small switch or crossover cable. Second would be to uninstall, reinstall. Third would be to talk to tech support.
This is embarrassing, but I never do it that way. So, I tried it. Highlighted the patient and clicked on Enter. I must be doing it the wrong way.

Is your processor usage spiking when you highlight the fields?
Next time, before you highlight the field, open the task manager (CTRL+SHIFT+ESC). Select the performance tab and set the window to the side. See if the usage spikes when you highlight a field.

thanks Bert and Sandeep . When I highlight and double click on the patient on the desk top my CPU usage goes up from 3 % to an average of 33% ( tried it on several different patients) . Dont know if this is significant. I know using wireless is not ideal but it is the best solution for me at present as I use the lap top room to room and also use it at several satellite clinics. Did consider uninstalling and reinstalling AC but it seems slightly better today . thanks Bala

I am using widows 8 pro and this happens on and off. When double clicking or "tapping" on a patient to open the chart invariably there will be a delay and the chart will open after a few seconds. Sometimes the program freezes and nothing functions. If left alone for awhile, the chart does openup correctly eventually. I also access the server through wifi and there is only one computer accessing the server through the wifi router. It doesn't bother me a lot but it is annoying because you are with a patient and have to go to a wired terminal to complete what you are doing. I have learned to live with it and have accepted that "it's the way of my universe".

I still think you should troubleshoot backwards and connect directly to the server and see what speed you get. I never have that problem, that chart opens up immediately. I am glad you are referring to double click now.
If your laptop runs tip top when connected by Ethernet to the server, then you could like Raj, decide to live with it, or find some way to use wired. What distance does your laptop have to travel to the wireless router?
