How do we distinguish the different addresses for billing and for scheduling?

We have 2 separate databases. Does get confusing with both patients going back and forth and the pharmacies not knowing which one to send. We never get pharmacy requests to one office, but it is able to send Rxs. I'm OK with that.

AC charges separately for each office.

I was able to link the two sites with logmein acting as an vpn. (prob not the correct terminology)
It's just one database that way. The offsite clinic does startup slower, but once up it only has a slight delay compared to the onsite computers. It is still faster than the Allscripts Pro I am currently using in a hosted environment.

We're you using Hamachi? Or just regular Logmein How fast are your connections.

Actually, I answered the question without a lot of thought. Originally I had 2 databases because my internet was slow and unreliable 9 years ago. Now that Internet is much faster many other options become possible. I do remote in with Logmein (LMI) regular all the time, also use RDP.

I have considered having my databases combined and creating my own cloud. I like keeping my own data.

I was using Hamachi to start, but found that the LMI works faster for my locations.
Speed test has my sites at 26/3 and 9/2.

1. Don't you find that RDC is quicker than LMI?

2. How are multiple doctors logging into the server at the same time?

Edit

I seem to have trouble figuring out the RDC setup so I can't really answer that.

It would sound like you simply have LMI connected so that your second office can connect to the main office. VPN would be rather slow.

It would be helpful to know what you are using for hardware, e.g.

Servers or workstations, Client/Server at each office or C/S at main office and peer to peer at remote office. Switch? If so, speed. Router/firewall. If server, what OS. Workstations/Clients what OS.

RDC is not that hard to set up and there are many on the board who can help or log in to your computer. LMI is good, but unless you have LMI ignition, it will be much slow to start than RDC. RDC is also a bit more secure.

Please give more detail than "able to link the two sites." I am assuming that your remote office has, say, eight workstations in a network environment. Your main office has a networked environment either Client/Server or P2P. The main computer has SQL and all your clients connect to it. You are trying or have connected the remote office to the main computer using LMI. That seems rather easy. Can you explain EXACTLY how the remote clients are connecting. To client computers on the main office? Directly to the main computer on the main office? Does each office have physicians or staff working at the clients? This is very important.

I use a VM ware server running multiple workstations. The VM ware server is in my main office and is on my Network.
In my 2nd office my medical assistant, my receptionist and I connect to the VM ware workstations over VPN and I find the speed to connect is quite good. I use Watchquard VPN to create a Wide area network.
