We are looking to possibly merge with a larger group for various reasons. My key question for anyone out there is can our data (they are my patients and all) be exported over to another EHR? Specifically GE Centricity (I've used it before and no it's not as good as AC).
I know AC has decided to lock down the database (which can be bypassed from what I've read) but is there a simple way to simply export all the encounters in a useful form that's not a complete nightmare (I want the discrete data, not PDFs)?
Is the CSV file created in the admin panel useful at all for this? I'm going to be handing the database file over to the IT team to help with this and they can mount it to another instance of SQL but that still leaves a fair amount of work. Anyone have any thoughts?
Thanks!!

The AC database can be easily opened in another instance of SQL. My IT help has been successfully been able to do this. Had to upgrade the SQL version after AC upgraded to 6.5. Not a lot of work can be accomplished in less than an hour.

The IT department will probably know but is mapping the database over to another system from that point fairly 'simple'?
I may give this a try with a backup of my database and see what I can poke around and see.
What did you guys do to copy the database? Detach - copy - reattach? or backup/restore? I'd prefer not to have much downtime during the day today (not that I'll have much opportunity to play with the DB with a full schedule).

You can mount the database in another instance of SQL Server that is installed on the machine. Once done, you can use Access or another tool to pull the data out into CSV files then hand it off to the integration team to import the data into GE Centricity.
