hi,
am I the only one having problems with constant interference from MSE and windows defender - despite adding AC to the exceptions and using a brand new server and AC 6.3.3 , a day after a scan by defender when I click on AC icon , windows installer starts to configuring windows
this seems to be a recurring problem on my old main computer as well
any ideas ?

You may have a fake windows defender. I am not aware of windows defender affecting AC in any way.

bala,

A quick Google will show a few hits on your issue. Make sure you read the whole thing. Given this is a known issue, if it still doesn't work, ping support, and they should be able to help you.

thanks James and Bert.
As far as I know the defender is not fake and came with the original OS.
I had already added AC to the MSE exceptions list but the error happened nevertheless and I went thru all the steps they outlined. AC tech support remoted in and found the exceptions were correctly set. I understand that defender uses the same files as MSE.
They had no other explanation but felt that some other program may be interfering.
so will keep any eye on this
thanks

Rather than trying to figure out what other file it is, wouldn't it be simpler to uninstall Defender and MSE (temporarily) and install Avira or Avast or whatever. See if the problem happens then. If it doesn't, I would call AC, and tell them to remote in and fix it. Period. My guess is with an uninstall and reboot, you won't have the problem. Then with any other AV programs, I doubt you will have the problem.

Good luck.

I am not a fan of MSE. It interferes with several programs that I use. In particular, our PM software, Medware.
