Yep, we're having a server issue at the moment. Hoping to have it back up and running within 10 minutes or so. Sorry all.

Thanks for the update. Why are Mondays always the most frequent down days?

Dr Mel, don't have a good answer for that, still investigating. Think it's most likely just coincidence, nothing special happens over the weekend that might cause an issue on Mondays.

Updox still down. Java keeps trying and failing to update to Version 7 Release 21.

Ken, sounds more like a Java problem that Updox, but we can definitely look into it for you. Can you DM me your contact details (or practice name) and I'll have our support staff get in touch?

Tobin, Updox is working now. It did appear to be a java problem. I am using the Firebox 20.0.1 browser on Windows 7. It requires most uptodate java plugin. I suspect the java site is overrun with requests for updates?

Hmm, I don't really know. All the Java install/upgrade "stuff" is handled by Oracle, we have no part of that. We're certainly not sending enough traffic their way to cause them any problems, but I have no idea if maybe they had a little server hiccup too.

Having the same problem with Updox. It keeps wanting to upgrade Java and then won't open. We work in Windows 7 environment
PS Miss the "good old days" when they called you back. They are great guys, just growing too quickly. Hope they catch up with themselves.

I suspect the java site is overrun with requests for updates? I haven't had the time/inclination to run it down, but java has seen a *SLEW* of updates lately. We have gone through ~8 updates to version 7 since approximately the beginning of the year. I would also mention that there are previous versions of Java that should be un-installed. Some applications that run Java do a better job than others of reporting out that they won't run with an un-secure version of Java. If I have a problem with a Java-based app, I immediately go to the java site to download and install the latest.

I remember for one practice we had to use an ancient version of Java for their hospital portal to work. Even though there were several reported security holes in that version. They stuck with it for years. It would absolutely not work with any version after that one.

I have several computers, mostly windows 7 with updox running on java 7, that give a whole bunch of sintax errors when updox is first launched. Is there a version of Java that works best with Updox? At some point I was told Updox only works with Java 6, but then I was told it was ok to update. Now I get the errors all the time. Updox works well once it starts, but you have to keep clicking ok on the "sintax error" window. If you forget to, the programs just hangs there until you click ok. Should I go back to Java 6? How? Where do I get it? I can't find it in their website.

If you use the local Updox printer, you'll need to re-install it as well.

Indy:
I did as you suggested: Uninstalled java / updox, deleted updox printer, restarted computer, reinstalled latest java (ver 7 update 21), restarted pc for good measure, installed updox, and got the same Syntax error x 5. Nothing changed. I wish I could just install java 6. I do not get errors with that version. I did reinstall the printer, but for some reason I could not find the updox_9100 port and had to do it manually.
Thanks for your help.

I found the solution. Silly me I assumed it was Updox. Wrong. The problem is internet explorer / windows / java. Best way to fix is to follow the advise from this website, easy solution: In Internet Explorer -> Tools -> Internet Options -> Connections -> LAN Settings Clear the checkbox in ?Automatically detect settings? Sorry to slander you updox.
