Hello I have been solo for 3 years and have been outsourcing billing. Now I want to bring it in-house and use a PM software. Most of the affordable ones I found don't interface with AC. I looked at the long list http://amazingcharts.com/services/interfaces/practice-management/ but didn't know where to start. Just wanted to ask you all what you have been using with AC. Thanks Khaled

I just started with EZClaims and so far, so good.
About $150/monthly for a full PM and use of their clearinghouse via cloud service.
We're exporting from AC into EZClaims without issues and posting payments/keeping balances on their server without interfacing with AC.
AC will be my scheduler/chart and EZ will be my PM until AC figures things out.

BamaDoc Thanks for pointing me towards EZClaim. I like what I see so far. Wanted to ask you if you find yourself needing to do much extra data entry when you export charges from AC to EZ, or does it pretty much auto-populate?

Our exported claims have only needed our CLIA number added and the diagnosis pointers adjusted on claims with -25 modifiers. After the first claim for a patient, everything demographic and billing is saved on the patient in EZClaim so eventually the only thing needed will be adjusting the 2-3 claims per day that have modifiers requiring different diagnosis pointers.
We exported, proofread, and submitted 3 weeks of claims in one morning last Friday and only 3 failed (2 for the same patient, both for secondary insurance mistakes that need to be updated).
On average it will take 15 minutes by my receptionist each day to proofread the claims from the previous day that I exported the previous night before submitting them to the clearinghouse. The autoposting of ERAs should cut our back-end billing time in half as well.
We'll see.

We are using Medisoft v17 with revenue management direct module. It cost us a little less than 2k. The Network Professional Version (the version you can run on multiple computers across your network) might cost you double that. We upgraded to v17 in order to meet the ANSI 5010 requirements. Required ICD-10 compliance in (probably) coming in Oct 2014. Medisoft v18 will not be ready for ICD-10 ( source), so we'll have to shell out some more money for v19 or possibly switch to another PM/billing software. Medisoft is supposed to interface with AC, but I haven't attempted to avail myself of the interface. Double data entry isn't too bad. Depending on the workflow of your office, it can even be beneficial. I know it helps me catch errors, and I think it even saves the doctor some time (eg he doesn't always have to find the correct dX in the AC database; someone else can add it to the summary sheet afterwards).

I'm thinking about bringing my billing in house. My current company uses Healthpac, which is listed as directl interfacing with AC. Does that mean it is bi-directional, meaning if we update info in AC, it also updates it in Healthpac? Will take a look at EZClaim and Medisoft. Thanks.

Khaled, We are a solo practice and we use TotalMD. It links with AC w/o X-Link. We still use a paper superbill though because TotalMD doesn't show the service code/charges that the doctor signed off AC - we have to to each pt chart, and we wouldn't know which pt has a code ready for billing w/o the paper superbill. I think it works ok for a solo practice and it's very affordable. If you search for "totalmd" you'll see some of the reviews I wrote about it.
