Please follow these steps for competing menu #10:

First step is to contact your state health department and get the information for uploading data to the Public Health Registry. They will give you a login and Password, plus instructions on how to upload the HL7 file. Once you get that information, you must enable the public health interface. Open Administrative Options and select the Interfaces button. Under Public Health Registries, choose the Meaningful Use Public Health Registry (MUPHR) and follow the instructions on the sign up screen. If you have activated the interface in the past, the trial code may not work again. In this case you would have to purchase the interface (don't worry, it's only $1).

To export syndromic surveillance information go to the appropriate patient's Summary Sheet and from the File menu choose Export --> Export to State Public Health Registry. When it asks you for a username and password, just leave it blank and click "OK". Next select the condition you want to export to the PHR and then click "Export". This will create an HL7 file in your Amazing Charts Directory (most likely under c:/program files/Amazing Charts/MUPHR/Backup). Once this file is created, you can send it to the state in the manor they specify.

There is a video tutorial for this online. Here is the link: Menu # 10 Video

Mark,
That process creates a .txt file for me, not the HL7 file that is required. Suggestions?

The .txt file IS an HL7 file. HL7 is a certain format of a .txt file.

Thank you for your feed back . apparently Ohio does not accept sundromic surveillace from EP at this time.
For Eligible Professionals
Ohio is not accepting syndromic surveillance data for meaningful use purposes from eligible professionals at this time.

Contact Information: SMED@odh.ohio.gov or visit the Situational Monitoring & Event Detection website

Technical Information
What should I do now. It did work last year ??
Thanks

Great question. At this point you can claim an exclusion when you file with CMS. Claiming an exclusion passes you for that measure.
